Vogue and Tatler are institutionalised fashion and
society bibles respectively. For me, they have been guidebooks throughout my
young adult life and inspirations for my future.
It is easy to get swept up in the craze of buying crop
tops from Topshop, but a quick flick through vintage Vogue shoots reminds you
of what style really is.

At Ode 2 Vogue, we resonate with the words of Andy
Warhol and Cecil Beaton.
Female Fashion Figure, 1950s
Andy Warhol
"Fashion wasn’t what you wore someplace anymore; it was the
whole reason for going."
Audrey Hepburn, My Fair Lady by Cecil Beaton |
Cecil Beaton
"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that
will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the
play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the
ordinary."
Let
envy-inducing outfit compilations, vintage magazine shoot resurrections, and
fastidious fashion commentary commence.
I completely agree in that we need to look back to the originals to guide us, especially when it's so easy to get caught up in today's fast-fashion trends. Lovely first post and I can't wait to see what's next! xx
